We design with simplicity and restraint. A disciplined approach to form and material to create efficient work with inherent character. We consider context and tradition to create objects and environments that transcend passing fashions and endure over time.

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we work across the UK on projects of varied scale and typology, from private homes and workplaces to retail spaces, temporary installations and furniture. Each project is shaped through close collaboration with clients, makers and consultants.

Architecture Office was founded and is led by Alexander Mackison. Alexander studied architecture at the Glasgow School of Art and the Oslo School of Architecture, graduating with a BArch and DipArch.
